Face of Lace

lace

Your face is
weathered, beaten lace,
lines hand-stitched
by pure souls
and draped along
your skin
by God,

his infinite hands
smoothing
the tailored art
against your skull,
letting it shape
and harden
around your eyes
and thin mouth,

creating an outside
as complex as within;
an imperfect perfection.
